THIS WAS A RECENT DISPLAY IN A MAJOR BIG BOX BOOKSTORE IN ONE OF THE LARGEST CITIES IN THE U.S., WHICH HAS A LARGE AFRICAN-AMERICAN POPULATION.

Answer: Not one book is by an African writer.  They are or were all white: maybe not racist, but definitely colonial and paternalistic.
